Lunch with the Emperor

Weather Japan's Emperor knows it or not, I had lunch on the grounds of the Imperial Palace in Downtown Tokyo today. I doubt seriously that he paid any attention to the gaggle of tourists, most of whom were Japanese, but never the less I my sandwich and chips at his place today. I have to admit, he has some nice digs. The grounds are the Japanese version of Buckingham Palace. Large buildings, extensive gardens and pushy security guards whose job it is to keep us from running amok. Many of the keeps and stone walls date back to the Shoguns, but the majority of buildings on the grounds are products of the 20th century.

I should have started this with how lucky I was to get there at all. LeaAnn would have killed me if she knew how late I started my journey yesterday (so let's not tell her.) I literally made every train and my entrance time to the Palace by the skin of my teeth. Matter-o-fact, I am going to cut this blog short so that I do not repeat myself today. I am headed to Hamamatsu to tour the Yamaha Instrument Manufacturing Plant. I am really psyched about this, so forgive me if I save the details about yesterday until later. Suffice to say that I am one lucky bugger. Just ask LA about our flight from Gatwick to Munich in 2004.

The pictures are from the Imperial Palace.
